What’s all this buzz about a recording Tolkien made which has resurfaced all of a sudden?
(… and just in time for the new book launch, here)
Long story short, it involves an unknown elvish poem recording, a dinner, Tolkien exhibiting his hobbit side and the Netherlands.
This lost tape (discovered by René van Rossenberg), allegedly contains an audio recording of a dinner event which took place in the land of tulips, windmills and wooden shoes; where Tolkien delivered a talk (bordering “hobbit fashion”, it seems) and even discussed the meaning behind The Lord of the Rings.
Personally, this sounds exciting indeed; but I’d rather wait until we get official confirmation that this is the real deal (and that a complete recording of the event actually exists).
